the existence of dental well being programs, including: development of materials, building connections with broader medical communities and communication about services within the profession.

2010-42H: Initiation of a Request for Proposal (RFP) process was granted calling for the de- velopment of a new part three of the National Boards, elimination of live patients. The appro- priate ADA council and board members will de- velopment a portfolio style exam for licensure purposes designed to assess a person’s clinical competence with a third party assessment that is valid and reliable psychometrically, including a complementary written/interactive exam for items not deemed adequately addressed in the portfolio model, such as ethics and profes- sionalism. Note: The MDA House of Delegates approved making a statement of support to the dental board for the development and implementation of this type of exam. This already exists in state statute in California.

2010-87H: Calls for a study of the Impact of Emerging and Existing Models of Educa- tion, and was referred to Council on Dental Education and Licensure. This resolutions was submitted to the ADA by the Sixth (of which Missouri is part) and Seventh Districts, and was submitted tot eh Sixth District by the MDA at

the request of Marsha Pyle, DDS, Dean of the UMKC School of Dentistry. The study will con- sist of looking at the short- and long-term im- plications (positive and negative) with relevant stakeholders to participate in the discussion and a report back to 2011 ADA House.

2010-101H: Warnings on Medications that Cause Dry Mouth. This initial resolution was put forward in 2009 by Dr. Nathan Bauer, Springfield (2010 MDA Outstanding New Den- tal Leader). It was reviewed by the Council on Scientific Affairs and adopted this year for ADA to encourage FDA to require warning labels on medications that cause dry mouth and, as a result, increased the risk of tooth decay.

2010-29H: Collection of materials that are developed through the ADA State Public Affairs program on the best management practices from states on the issue of workforce will be made available to constituent societies for use in their efforts to educate policymakers and like-minded special interest groups.

2010-38H: The ADA has recognized that school-based oral health programs can play an important role in preventing and controlling dental caries in children and adolescents, as well as assist in the referral of those patients to a dental home. The ADA website will include

a page dedicated to providing information on school-based oral health programs. It will include external resources designed to assist professional providers, school boards and the public to establish and maintain such programs in a safe and ethical manner. Additionally, the ADA will approach national school agencies, including but not limited to the National School Boards Association, to discuss possible collaborations to promote materials pertaining to school-based oral health programs.

2010-40H: Committee on the New Dentist name was changed to the New Dentist Com- mittee. Additionally the committee duties were further defined to enhance the development of the future leaders by providing and promot- ing leadership development opportunities and training for new dentists.

2010-71H: Will bring back the Health Screen- ing Program at the 2011 ADA annual session, as money was secured for this program.
