3RD ANNUAL
MISSOURI DENT AL ASSOCIA TION
Welcome to the display of winning images from the Third Annual MDA Photo Contest!
We received a total of 109 outstanding entries from 30 members, including four dental students. We thank all members for taking time to enter their photographic work.
T
his year’s contest features the following categories: Human Interest, Travel & Places, Outdoor Beauty, Digital Darkroom, All Creatures Great & Small, and Uniquely Missouri. The following pages show first and second place images in each of the six categories.
The voting process was anonymous, and judges chose their top two images from each category which were then tabulated for results. This year’s judges were Dr. Jim Nail, MDA Editor; Dr. Joe Sokolowski, MDA President; Dr. Elwood Rice, MDA Foundation Chair; Greg
Russell, MDIS Executive Vice President; Vicki Wilbers, MDA Executive Director; and, Katie Reichard, MDA’s new Legislative & Regulatory Director.
All of the judges greatly enjoyed the opportunity to judge the contest and noted how challenging it was due to the caliber of entries. Only one first place winner this year had previously won first in a category.
The MDA especially thanks the contest headlining sponsor, MDIS, who provides the $150 first place cash prize and Lands’ End Business Outfitters, who provides
the $50 second place gift cards. MDIS is the MDA wholly owned insurance subsidiary and Lands’ End is an endorsed company of both the ADA and MDA, especially for their logo apparel.
Throughout each issue of the Focus this year we will spotlight, in random order, the winner from one of the six categories (as can be seen with this issue’s Hills of Cinque Terre cover by graduate student, Dr. Erin Graham in the Travel & Place category). Additionally, you can view all entries submitted in this year’s contest at www.modental.org/photocontest.
