In recent years, the “instant” cookware and appliances have risen in popularity. Busy lives filled with work, school, extra- curricular activities and community events have led to a rising demand for gadgets to make our life easier. Reducing the time spent in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove to put a meal on the table has been one way to find time for these other demands on our schedules. Wanting to serve a meal that would normally take 2 hours to prepare, but having the ability to prepare it in 30-45 minutes can be a life-saver for a busy professional.

However, for some people, a day spent in the kitchen preparing a rich tasty meal is a worthy use of their time. It’s a labor of love to find a complex recipe, gather unique and complementary ingredients, put them together in the right measurements and cook time, then present and serve the dish to family or friends. Some meals just taste better when they cook slowly over time, marinating in seasoning, sauces and juices, rather than speeding up the process and risking drying out or over-cooking the food.
