DON’T ALWAYS PULL A DRIVER ON THE TEE BOX

As an avid golfer, with a new pair of custom Foot Joys, I am full of anticipation for the turf to green up and the pins to be placed. As I’m writing this article the Master’s Tournament is a week away and I am dreaming of sweeping beds of blooming azaleas, dogwoods, and magnolias. As a golfer and landscaper, I’m not sure which I am more excited about, the tournament game play or the gorgeous, televised garden vistas of Augusta International Golf Club. If only I had tickets to view this course in person…bucket list dream.

Earlier this year, Tom Hedge won the

AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Pebble Beach is a links style golf course with lots of open views of unforgiving green fairways and the rolling surf of the Pacific Ocean. Historically, links style courses were along a coast and often included sand dunes and few, if any, trees. Modern links-style courses are not necessarily coastal and have been shaped to take on traditional links characteristics. Augusta International Golf Club is a parkland style course featuring lots of trees, heavily constructed by a course architect, manicured landscaped boundaries, and forgiving fairways of lush grass. Both courses are beautiful, famous, and expensive to play (if you can get on). One has an extremely private club membership while the other is a public course. Both hold national televised major golf outings. Both are challenging for even the most experienced golfer. As a golfer, I look forward to the day I get to view and/or play both of these iconic golf courses.
