A TRIBUTE to Our Long-Time
Magazine Committee Chair By Christine Friend
There have been some wonderful folks leading this Committee over the years: Mark Burke, Kara Cermak & Chris Nyborg specifically. Taking nothing away from the great work they all did, CYNDI REMPERT has simply been the best, perhaps because she offered her volunteer work out of simple desire and creative joy. Even after she left the industry professionally, Cyndi remained a homeowner member and volunteer, simply to continue volunteering her talents on the Magazine Committee.
Cindy started as one of the most creative and dedicated committee members I’ve known and evolved into the role of the best Co-Chair – along with Tim Haviland – that this Committee has had. While that is my own humble opinion, it’s offered having been a member of this group since 1994 so I have some pretty good perspective!
Cyndi has gone above and beyond in her volunteer duty every single minute. She’s always brought creativity and a wonderful sense of humor to our meetings and writing. Cyndi has handled the mostly thankless job of keeping us all on task with endless patience and genuine kindness. When we fail to produce our promised articles – which is too often – she has stepped in and written countless articles as a “CAI Staff Writer” or under some other creative pseudonym. She started the list of authors used over the years and updated it regularly. She did all that, while first working as an accountant in the community association industry; and then more impressively, doing all that for years even when she no longer worked in our crazy industry!
In short, I don’t know that there has been anyone else in the history of the Magazine Committee (and since its humble origins as the Newsletter Committee) that has honestly contributed more time and effort than Cyndi Rempert.
I PERSONALLY CAN’T THANK HER ENOUGH FOR ALL SHE’S DONE, AND I’M SURE THAT PAST AND PRESENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS ECHO THAT WITH DEEP APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE.
As Cyndi moves out of state and retires from CAI and the Magazine Committee, she will be missed, personally and professionally. She is simply the best. We wish her and her family health and happiness in the next chapters of her story!
