If you’ve ever watched a professional golfer as they prepare to hit their tee shot, you may not even notice but they are going through a fairly extensive checklist in their mind in preparation for hitting the ball. The

professional is considering such factors as which way the wind is blowing, what direction is the ball going to go in once it lands on the fairway. They consider the risks such as the distance to the nearest Sand trap or water hazard. They look down the fairway as they try to decide whether they want to draw the ball in or fade it away so as to land in the just the right spot on the fairway. And there is the actual swing. Each golfer has their own ritual as they stand in and ready themselves to draw the club back and hit the ball. Professionals are actually so good that most can convince a rather large crowd of fans to stand precariously close while the professional prepares to launch a 1.62 ounce projectile forward at over 100 mph. You don’t do that unless you think the other person came prepared to perform. Now consider the typical amateur golfer who generally walks up to the tee box, inserts the tee in the ground and places the ball on the tee. They take a couple of practice swings, maybe a cursory look down the fairway and then swings away, praying they’re going to be able to find the ball for their second shot. I have a lot of friends who golf and I can assure you that I do my best to stay out of the flight path of any shot they take.
