INDUSTRY NEWS MANAGEMENT DONATES NEARLY $25,000
Landscape Concepts Management is donating nearly $25,000 in landscape maintenance services this landscape season to a local non-profit organization, Women In Need Growing Stronger (WINGS).
Michael Kerton, Owner of Landscape Concepts Management, says it’s important to give back to the community through organizations who help those who are in need. Kerton also states, “We can see the difference WINGS creates for women and children who come from homelessness and domestic violence. If we can make a difference by donating through our landscape services, this will allow the organization to allocate the monies for other areas within the organization, whether it’s food, housing, counseling services, or their job placement program. We also like to think that we’re creating a better environment for the women and children by beautifying their homes and the service locations. I encourage more business owners to help local organizations; we owe it to the communities we service.”
In a letter to Landscape Concepts Management, Terri Channer, Director of Development at WINGS states that because of donations like the one Landscape Concepts Management provided, women and children will have a bed to sleep, food in their stomachs, and staff to help guide them on their journey to independence.
According to WINGS, last year the organization was able to help 558 women and children with 63,126 nights of housing, counseling and other supportive services. WINGS answered 3,778 calls on their twenty-four hour crisis line and provided 307 more women with nearly 4,000 hours of counseling.

J.C. RESTORATION, INC. RAISES OVER $5,500 FOR LOCAL BURN PREVENTION CHARITY (IFSA)
JCR Hosts Continuing Education Course on Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration
During the week of September 22nd – 25th J.C. Restoration, Inc. (JCR) successfully hosted over 350 industry professionals from the insurance and property management sectors from across the Chicagoland area for seminars on fire and smoke damage. Throughout the week, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, JCR’s chosen charity, collected over $5500. These donations came from onsite donations from attendees; from matching corporate donations from Philadelphia Insurance Companies, DSP Insurance Services, and Prologis; and 100% of the registration fees collected by JCR.
The Executive Director of the IFSA, Phil Zaleski was on hand throughout the week to speak of IFSA’s dedication to fire safety and burn prevention through public education, and to share that raised donations would support IFSA’s Camp “I Am Me.” Camp “I Am Me” is a week-long camp for children and teenagers who have experienced injuries from burns. To learn more about the Camp, please visit http://www.ifsa. org/camp-i-am-me.
JCR presented an Illinois Department of Insurance approved 58 | COMMON INTEREST®
CE course entitled Smoke on the Water. The one-day course explained the processes involved in fire damage mitigation and restoration. It also illustrated how insurance companies, property management professionals and restoration professionals can work together to provide property owners with rapid, responsive, technically accurate procedures for loss mitigation on fire damage claims. By the end of the day, through class participation and hands-on demonstrations the attendees learned that advanced techniques and technologies save downtime and money throughout the fire damage claims process. Classroom discussions also focused on the public health and safety issues associated with fire restoration situations.
“Supporting charitable programs and getting involved in the surrounding community is of tremendous importance to everyone at JCR. It is an honor to select the IFSA as our Charity for this event. With our commitment to provide educational programs and resources,” general manager Steve Rost stated, “J.C. Restoration is pleased to support the IFSA and Camp I Am Me”.
