CAI-IL has many innovators among its volunteers. These members constantly strive for greatness in their professions and on their committees. Each year, CAI holds the Excellence Awards & Winter Gala to recognize these achievements. Community Association Manager of the Year, Community Association Volunteer Leader of the Year, and Business Partner of the Year award are in their second year. We are pleased to have awarded our first Community Association Volunteer Leader of the Year and our second Community Association Manager of the Year at the event. COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
VOLUNTEER LEADER OF THE YEAR The Community Association Volunteer Leader of the Year Award recognizes excellence demonstrated by an individual who has provided outstanding contributions to the association they serve and to their surrounding community. This individual is committed to, and clearly understands their role and fiduciary responsibility as a community volunteer.
Jerry McNamara
Gatewood Condominium Association Jerry led his association’s board of directors in an extensive building improvement program and exhibited strong leadership and guidance in the process. He was always available to owners, board members, vendors and management at any time in order to keep the project on target. Jerry
created better communication between the membership, board and management and has a keen knowledge of financial needs of the community, leading to prudent decisions by the board. Jerry is always willing to listen and to assist. Jerry also became involved in CAI-IL’s Dedicated Community Association Leader (DCAL) education program to become better informed and ultimately provide more informed leadership to his board.
In addition to his efforts within his association, Jerry has spent numerous hours giving of his time to support the efforts of CAI. He served as Secretary on the Board this year along with serving on the Membership Committee and ILAC. He comes prepared with a great understanding of what CAI is all about and adds a logical, grounded homeowner voice to our chapter. He has a servants heart…there is no task that Jerry has ever turned down; where there is a need Jerry has been more than willing to fill lt. He just gives and gives of his time.

COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
MANAGER OF THE YEAR The Community Association Manager of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has knowledge, ethics, professionalism, and skills in community association management with verifiable experience in financial, administrative, and facilities management in at least one community association.
Judy Rowe, CMCA, AMS, PCAM Community Specialists
Judy has 40 years’ experience in the management and operations of Chicago properties, including residential (both rental and condominium), commercial, office and retail facilities. Judy’s duties currently include staff supervision of seven large Chicago downtown
condominium associations. In this role she is very involved with the Boards of Directors, their financial reporting, including budgeting, and overall acting as liaison between the Management Company and the Condominium Associations. She is a role model to her Community Specialists colleagues by the training she often provides at their monthly Manager Meetings and the mentoring she provides day to day.
Judy often visits the properties she manages, attends all board meetings, reviews all management reports, and often writes RFPs for required bids and then writes comparison reports for the Boards of Directors. She has guided one of her associations through two major capital projects both coming under budget and with little, if any, interruptions
