In the latter part of the 1980s, Thomas Skweres, currently Regional Vice President for ACM Community Management, sold his then company, ABC Management, to Vince. Attorney Steve Bloomberg, then of Moss & Bloomberg and now of Chuhak & Tecson, had introduced Tom to Vince. Erickson Management grew a bit more with that acquisition among others, adding properties primarily in the western suburbs with a satellite office in Darien. Tom had started and developed ABC Management after serving as a board member at his own association, and he stayed on to work with Vince at Erickson Management through the sale and transition. Tom said about Vince, “He was warm and caring, promoting other people and not himself. Vince believed in the promotion of the people who worked for him, and in promoting the industry. He was a hard-working, down- to-earth individual who was respected by the people who worked for him, and in the industry.”
Early on, Vince recognized that many of the smaller suburban associations he managed could benefit greatly from combined or pooled services. With his guidance and direction, Erickson Management Company was among the first in the industry to work with other professionals on such endeavors. The company offered a master insurance policy that spread the cost of shared risk and reduced individual premiums for many associations. Vince encouraged community associations of every size to purchase their own workers compensation policies to ensure they were protected from risk in hiring the affordable sole proprietors and handymen many small associations favored as vendors. That was revolutionary thinking for a lot of people.
Vince worked with Steve Bloomberg on a streamlined, flat- fee collection policy that saved the Erickson Management portfolio properties literally thousands of dollars in legal fees, and ensured the boards of those many associations met their fiduciary duties in assessment collections and recouped as much as possible in every collection action. Linda Greever, then of Moss & Bloomberg and now of Chuhak & Tecson, was a key part of that process.
to this industry. He never expected anything in return. He’s been a huge part of this industry and a part of CAI not only on a business level but on a
personal level. He enjoyed it so.” Vince was a great believer in the educational courses for managers available through CAI. He was the first owner of a management company in Illinois to obtain CAI’s Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation. He also earned the Association Management Specialist (AMS) designation through CAI. Vince has been an active member of CAI for decades, both at the local and national levels. He served two terms as a national trustee, and served as the national Chairperson of the Chief Executive Officers Management Company Committee, and as Chairperson of the North Central Region of CAI. Vince is a past Director and past President of CAI-Illinois. In 2002, Vince was honored by CAI with the Olympus Award, recognizing those Chapter members that have had a profound influence on the development of the Chapter. That very same year, Vince received the Barbara D. Wick Award, which honors those individuals who have made significant contributions to CAI on both the local and national level. He was only the second

recent conversation, Linda reminisced with me and shared her many warm memories of working with Vince. Vince was always there; you could call him if you needed him, and he was always available to offer some quick advice. Linda, like many, knew that Vince’s wife, Loretta, was the love of his life and his true partner in all he did. One thing Linda particularly noted was that Vince dearly loved the Erickson golf outing. Linda talked about what pleasure it gave Vince to give back to the people who gave him so much; the people he enjoyed working with and dealing with. She recalled that she never heard Vince say a bad word about
anybody. Linda said, “He gave so much in this business and enjoyed giving so much
