HOW SHOULD YOU START POSTING?

In June 2016, Bloomberg reported that Snapchat had surpassed Twitter in the average number of daily users, clocking in last December at 150 million against Twitter’s 140 million. By now, that gap may be widening. Whenever you dive into a new social media platform, it’s best

to have a plan, even if you have to adjust as you go along. Here are some guidelines to get you snapping and posting like a pro:

• Cross Promote Already using Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest? Be sure to promote your new profile on Instagram or Snapchat on your existing channels. Offer incentives, such as coupons or discounts that users capture in screenshots, to new followers who come from your existing communities.

• Launch During a Key Event Creating content – photos and videos for Instagram Stories and Local Snapchat Stories – about an exciting event can boost your new profiles on these image-intensive channels. And be sure to cross promote on your existing social profiles.

• Share What Makes Your Arena Special Inside stories, behind-the-scenes, and sneak peeks are highly popular on both platforms. Featuring your youngest students (with parental permission, of course)? Adorable. What does it look like from the top of the Zamboni? Amazing. Instructor’s

trick to mastering a move? Insightful. And fun! Most of all, be entertaining. Users are on Instagram and Snapchat for on-the-go, in-the-moment entertainment.

Te last bit of advice is something that I love about social

media. If you’re a new user of Instagram or Snapchat, reach out to your customers and staff for help. Tose who are using the platforms will be happy to share their own tips and knowledge! And what a great way to build a connection, both offline and online. Keep sharing!
