There’s much to be thankful for if you survived 2020


This has been a year like no other to have started out so normally. In January I was working in the marketing department of a busy casino on the Mississippi River — coordinating events and tournaments for the customers.


My oldest was back in school after Christmas break and my little one was, well, my little one.


Soon, we started hearing about this China virus but to me that was a problem a million miles away. No one knew what was coming and how bad it would be. In just a few months, the casinos shut down, putting thousands in this area out of work — including me. It was panic time!

But we held in there, trying new promotions like our first annual Spanish edition and this month our new annual Savanna goat edition. We also got some Payroll Protection Program funds, which were a lifesaver. And because there were fewer shows and sales, our travel ex- penses were cut drastically.


All in all, we survived a terrible

We are still in business, our family is safe, we have food on the table and roofs over our heads. We, like millions of others, are grateful and blessed. This Thanksgiving season, we should all bow


our heads and thank God that he gave us the strength to keep moving forward knowing there was a light at the end of the tunnel — even if we could not see it. Continue to be safe and make time to spend with your family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
