Instructor Tim Long Embraces Opportunity to Teach

acked by 13 years’ experience in financial accounting, over a decade of that spent in the con-
struction industry, Tim Long clearly knows his way around construction accounting. Long, who is controller for Sacra-
mento-based Mark III Construction, has embraced the opportunity to share his knowledge with others by serving as an industry professional instructor for AGC of California’s online training platform. His series of courses on construction accounting and Microsoft Excel have been well received by more than 200 individuals who have taken them through AGC of California. “Tim brings the perfect blend of
knowledge and industry experience to the courses he teaches with AGC of Califor- nia,” said Kendra Bilo, director of training and education, AGC of California. “He has a way of relating complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand for a layperson. Tim has been such an asset to our membership.” Teaching comes naturally to Long,
whose own dad was a high school teacher in the Sacramento area. He considered following in his father’s footsteps before ultimately pursuing a degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. Long became a California licensed certified public accountant and worked for the “Big 4” accounting firm KPMG U.S. for two years before he moved into the construction industry financial sector, joining Teichert Construction in 2012. He accepted a po- sition as controller of Sacramento-based Mark III Construction, Inc. in 2015. Part of his job includes training new people as they come onto his team. “I
