Celebrating the Future of Our Industry

BY PETER TATEISHI, CEO F

or more than 100 years, AGC of California and its member com- panies have built a legacy for the

construction industry through shaping policy, improving industry relationships, and developing our workforce. We continue to push our industry and organization to new heights as we strive to be the associa- tion that lifts construction into the future. During the recent AGC of California

Installation & Awards Gala in Huntington Beach, we honored the best in what we do and how we build. Our Achievement Awards recognized the most impactful construction leaders in California, while our Constructor Awards recognized the best projects built in our state. AGC of California also celebrated our industry’s historic progress as we swore in Dina Kimble, of Royal Electric Co., as our first female board president. As she begins her year as president, Dina and AGC of California have an opportunity to build upon our legacy of leadership and innovation. Standing up

for our industry at every level, embracing our opportunities, and finding ways to strengthen our state, Dina is the right leader to continue the progress we have made. Construction is shifting, and Dina and our association are poised to meet challenges head on so we can realize a stronger future for our industry. Te past two years have been chal- lenging, but AGC of California leaders and members led our industry through unprecedented times. We would be remiss if we did not thank Mike Blach of Blach Construction for serving as president and helping the industry maintain consistency and certainty during uncertain times. His leadership has truly impacted the direction of our association and our industry. Meanwhile, our annual Industry Op-

timism Survey reveals that AGC of Cali- fornia members are optimistic about the opportunities for construction in 2022. When we think about how we engage with our workers and our teams, we also

have an opportunity to build a culture that supports their safety, health, and well-being and that includes and reflects California’s diversity. For our optimism to continue beyond this year, we have to work to keep our momentum going. In 2022, we will build on this progress and optimism with stronger relation- ships. From public and private owners, labor partners, and elected officials to our disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE), AGC will grow and engage with our partners across the state. Optimism will grow as we build momentum to, as an industry, unite and include all voices. California’s future is bright because of all of you, and we are excited to launch into that shining future in 2022!

Kindest regards, Peter Tateishi, CEO
