the president’s message Dear CAI Friends,

There’s an old saying “If you eat a live frog first thing in the morning, then you’ll already have done the most difficult thing you’re going to do all day!” Well, I’m not sure about you, but I have a feeling that if I ate a live frog first thing in the morning, 2020 would laugh in my face and say, “Oh yeah, watch this!” And then I’d regret having eaten that frog, on top of what I’m still going to have to do this day.

Difficult does not begin to de- scribe 2020. As if COVID isn’t bad enough, now our en- tire state seems to be on fire. Friends and family are being evacuated and are threatened with losing, or have already lost, their homes. We are all struggling to get by during these difficult times and now, more than ever, the human connection is so very important. But wait, even THAT has been diminished to a shadow of what it used to be.

Thankfully, CAI has worked harder than ever to keep our Chapter connected. With virtual luncheons, coffee chats, and even our very first (and highly successful) virtual legal forum, the

CAI CA North Chapter has faced 2020, and given as good as we’ve gotten!

I am so excited to be a part of such a positive, forward facing Chapter in CAI. Our Board Members and Committee Members are working harder than ever to continue the high- est level of education, service, and community that we have all come to expect from CAI. I am in awe of the generosity of our sponsors and the dedica- tion of our volunteers.

And as we move into the last few months of 2020, I think I’ll stick to eggs for breakfast. No sense in making my day

any more difficult!

As always, if I can be of service to you, please feel free to reach out to me.

At your service,

Jennifer Richardson Chapter President Te California North Chapter of CAI
