IN MEMORIAM
DR. ROY DALTON MERTZ Dr. Roy Dalton Mertz, age 58, of Owenton, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born December 26, 1961, in Henry County, KY, he was the son of the late Almon Lloyd and Jo Ella Wolfe Mertz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Blanchard Mertz. Dr. Mertz was a graduate of Woodford County High School, attended pre-vet school at the University of Kentucky, and graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He owned and operated the Owen County Animal Clinic for over 32 years and enjoyed playing cards, especially with his buddies at McDonald’s.
Roy is survived by his pride and joy, son Dalton Mertz; his sister, Beverly (Dana) Strader Swift of Tulsa, OK; niece, Katie Clark; nephew, Jake Strader; and long-time friends and vet techs, Ashley Roberts and Kelly Richards. He is also survived by his faithful companions, dogs Blue, Fluff, and Snickers.

DR. WALTER HORACE MARSCH
Walter Horace Marsch, 65, of Philpot, KY, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. He was born in Owensboro to the late George D. and Pearl Holland Marsch.
Dr. Marsch did his undergraduate work at Western Kentucky University before graduating from veterinary school at Auburn University. He served as a veterinarian in Henderson, Kentucky and Sullivan, Illinois before opening his Owensboro practice, East Side Animal Hospital in 1982. Wal- ter was Past-President and a current district board member for the Daviess County Lions Club. He also served as a member of the board for the Green River District Health Department. Dr. Marsch enjoyed his small farm, raising several head of Black Angus cattle, and recently developed an interest in home-brewing beer. He loved the outdoors and had hiked much of the Appalachian Trail.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Sarah Rose Hancock, Eva M. Howard, Ka- tie Lou Marsch, Robert Marsch and Glenn “Dexter” Marsch. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Brenda Marsch; sons, Patrick Marsch (Susan) of Owensboro and Michael Marsch (Amanda) of San Diego, CA; a grandson, Reid Marsch; sisters, Adrian Howard, Georgine Poole (Clyde) and Mary Buck (John); a brother, Gary Marsch; and many nieces and nephews.
