In an effort to support its mission to promote careers in irrigation, the Irrigation Foundation has an annual scholarship program. The program’s vision is to encourage the study of and careers in the irrigation field. By providing financial support for the education of students, the program will benefit the community through a better-educated workforce and reveal the ever-expanding irrigation industry to scholarship candidates.
Scholarship applications are due by Feb. 15, 2018, via an online application process.
The winners will be announced April 1, 2018. The scholarships will be awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 – $2,500 based on candidates’ letters of intent, financial need, reference letters, resumes and list of irrigation courses.

2017 Irrigation E3 program
In November 2017, the Foundation sent 30 students and instructors to the Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Orlando, Florida, as part of its Irrigation E3 program. This is the Foundation’s largest group in the program’s six-year history with 28 E3 learners (students) and two E3 leaders (instructors) taking in all the irrigation industry has to offer through exposure, experience and education.
Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply and The Toro Company were co-lead sponsors of the program and will be again for 2018.
Irrigation industry careers & job descriptions
To help promote irrigation careers in both the agriculture and landscape sectors, the Foundation has added new resources to the career opportunities section of its website. The site now includes a compila-
tion listing of positions in both the land- scape and agriculture industries including job descriptions, job responsibilities, possible career ladders and education requirements. This new resource will help spread the importance of irrigation careers and generate excitement about entering the irrigation workforce. To find out more, visit

Excellence in Education Award
Do you know an awesome instructor who has taught or is teaching irrigation, water management and/or water conservation? Do you know of an educator teaching at a two- or four-year institution who is encouraging students to pursue careers in the irrigation field?
The Foundation wants to recognize these types of individuals. Presented annually, the Excellence in Education Award goes to a person who helps supply the irrigation industry with educated professionals who provide efficient irrigation solutions that protect water and the environment. The recipient will be awarded with a travel grant to attend the Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Long Beach, California, Dec. 3 – 7, 2018.
