PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Chad Hurst, DC President, WSCA Board of Directors
Whether you realize it or not, when you became a doctor you also became a leader and a teacher. It was the new job description and identity you received as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Perhaps you may not have seen yourself as those things
when you initially stepped into the realm of caring for others, but this is how you are now viewed by your staff members and your patients. It holds true if you have been in practice for ten days or ten years. The remarkable thing about chiropractic is that this is often how our profession has been viewed throughout the past 100 + years. We have been known as a profession that puts high emphasis on leading people to better health and function through how we care for and educate the people who claim us as “my chiropractor.” It is a great honor to be able to do this day in and day out, but with that honor, comes responsibility.
I recently heard an individual speak about the importance of a leader taking care of their own life so they can take care of others they are responsible for. As I was processing that thought it struck me that not only do we need to take care of ourselves but we also

should live a life that is congruent with what we believe to be true. From a chiropractic perspective, we preach health and better function but are we living it out? This thought has hit home for me and has propelled me to make some better health choices. I hope that it will also result in me becoming a better leader and educator of my patients.
So, what does all of this have to do with the WSCA? To have a healthy organization we must have a purpose and we must have people to serve. We must operate congruently with what we are about. The WSCA strives to help chiropractors help patients. This purpose drives the decisions, classes and conferences, legislative issues, corporate relationships, and communications that the WSCA is behind. Who do we serve? Well, that is you, the chiropractors of Washington state and as a trickle-down effect, the people that are served well by our profession. Our hope is that you have felt and experienced some of the ways in which we are striving to do this. As we move into the future, we want to build a healthy association by equipping members to better serve and lead their communities in their each individual ways. Thanks for being a part of the WSCA, we are stronger together.
This highly-rated indispensable course will provide you with the most up-to-date clinical, insurance and legal information necessary to successfully evaluate, treat andmanagepatients with whiplash, spinal trauma and personal injury claims.
