The Emerging Leaders and Mentorship Committee:

Leading the Way for the Next Generation of CAI Members

The Emerging Leaders and Mentorship Committee was established by the Board of Directors to develop new leadership for the Chapter and create an environment where people who are new to the industry can learn from more experienced colleagues. The Committee is a companion to the Homeowner Leader Committee that the Board also established in 2022, which organizes HOA leader-specific mixers, educational sessions, and similar activities.

The Committee established a mentorship program specifically for managers in 2022 and established the program for business partners this year. The program’s purpose is to develop the skills of those who are new to the industry by giving them a better understanding of CAI- OC and how to succeed in this industry. The goal is to give these new members the support needed to become leaders within the Chapter and their company.

The mentorship program connects mentors with specific skills and knowledge with mentees who need or want the same skills to advance their careers. All participants complete detailed applications about their skill levels and mentees describe the skills they want to improve. After reviewing these applications and conducting casual Zoom interviews, the Committee creates matches based on each mentor’s experience and each mentee’s needs.

12 November | December 2024

Mentees are asked to attend four educational events per year, speak or co-speak with their mentor, attend at least one Chapter Board meeting, participate on a committee, write or co-write an article for the OC View, and meet with their mentors quarterly. Program activities are designed to develop the following skills:

• Public speaking • Networking • Conflict resolution • Building confidence • Life balance skills/avoiding burnout • Organizational leadership • Building culture • Goal setting • Time management skills • How to hold effective meetings • Understanding the request for proposal and bidding process • Project management

If you are a Chapter member who would like to participate in the Emerging Leaders and Mentorship Committee or
