President’s Message
Mike Perlof, CMCA President, CAI-OC
As we continue our “Be Like A.L.E.X.” journey this year, one of the most meaningful examples of “Empowering Others” has been through our CAI-AID program. This initiative truly embodies what community associations are all about — neighbors helping neighbors, communities supporting communities, and people coming together to make a real difference.
This year, CAI-OC was honored to receive an award at the international CAI conference for the incredible work accomplished through CAI-AID. While the recognition is exciting, the true reward has been seeing the impact these projects have on the people and communities involved.
Our recent Bishop Manor project was a perfect example. What began as an effort to help improve a community in need quickly became something much bigger. Volunteers, sponsors, managers, business partners, and homeowners all came together to transform the property, and the results were absolutely amazing. But perhaps the most inspiring part was what happened afterward. The momentum and pride created through the project inspired the community itself to unite, pass a special assessment, and move forward with additional, much-needed improvements. It reminded all of us that sometimes communities simply need a spark — a little encouragement and support — to come together and believe in what is possible.
That is what CAI-AID is really about. It is not just about landscaping, painting, repairs, or cleanup projects. It is about restoring pride, creating hope, and empowering communities to move forward together.
I am also excited to announce that this year’s CAI-AID project community has been selected: Newland Park in Garden Grove. We are already hard at work gathering volunteers, donations, and support to help make another meaningful impact. These projects are only possible because of the incredible generosity and dedication of our CAI-OC members and business partners, and I continue to be amazed by this organization’s willingness to step up and serve others.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, resources, and energy to CAI-AID. Together, we are proving that community associations are about far more than buildings and budgets — they are about people. And when people come together with a shared purpose, amazing things can happen.
Let’s continue to Be Like A.L.E.X. by empowering others and bringing community back to communities in need.
