Many auditors and public accountants are used to performing a majority of their work outside of their own office: traveling to client offices to perform audit fieldwork, accounting or consulting aspects of their job, or spending time outside of business hours working in their home to complete projects and meet deadlines during busy audit and tax seasons.
Our initial reaction was much like all of yours: physical office presence was limited to only a few staff members on a rotational basis, calls were routed to staff working from home, and Zoom, FaceTime and other virtual meetings quickly became commonplace. Some of our clients were not working, while others still were, though in a reduced capacity, so we saw a slight drop in client communications during the first couple weeks in late March while Illinois sheltered-in-place.
