By Carrie Surratt, CMCA, AMS, PCAM President, CAI Illinois

How exciting and what an honor it is to be elected President of the chapter and to be “married” to all of you! Our organization is built on dedication and passion, and I am ready to jump in.

Just as a wedding is a partnership, so too is the leadership of CAI and I recognize that I am not embarking on this journey alone. Our Board of Directors and Committee Members, much like a huge wedding party, are vital to the success of our mission. These individuals are trusted partners who offer guidance, support, and a shared vision for the future of CAI. Like marriage, we work together closely, support each other, and share the joys of our achievements.

The foundation laid by those before me is strong, and my role is to ensure that we continue building. In 2025, CAI will update our Strategic Plan to ensure that our future is as aligned with our growth and vision. Alongside this, one new goal is to create amentorship program for co-chairs and new committee members. By pairing seasoned leaders with new faces, we can ensure that the future of our association remains as vibrant and effective as it is today. Creating a supportive, inclusive environment for all is also a top priority. We have diverse talents and perspectives and can achieve even greater results.

Let us toast to the harmony and unity we share, much like marriage; working together through challenges, celebrating our victories, and always supporting each other. Here’s to long-lasting growth; both for our organization and for each of us as individuals committed to this cause. May our success be measured not just in numbers, but in the lasting impact we make on the communities we serve.

To my fellow Board Members, our wedding party, and every dedicated member of this chapter, may our partnership be filled with respect, collaboration, and yes, wedded bliss.

Cheers to 2025! May it be our best year yet.
