CAI Illinois Brings Home the Hardware

At the CAI National Conference in Las Vegas on April 30, the Illinois Chapter received two National Achievement and Excellence Awards for its 2014 programs. The chapter earned an award in the Leadership category for the PCAM Mentoring Program. The Leadership award is given to chapters who develop training, development and/or recognition programs that empower volunteers and/or members to be effective, efficient leaders. The PCAM Mentoring Program assembles experienced manager members who have earned their Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation so they can guide and mentor up-and-coming managers interested in pursuing higher designations. The group meets informally several times per year and conducts at least one social happy hour for networking purposes. Additionally, the PCAM mentors make themselves available throughout the year to answer questions and help PCAM candidates through the application process. CAI National liked the program so much, they used the concept to develop a National program to help all chapters.

Additionally, the Illinois Chapter won an Outstanding Chapter award for achieving a score of 80% or better in all five award submission categories. This is a tremendous honor as the standard is difficult to achieve and the award is not one that is frequently earned. This recognition by CAI National is an indication of the strength of our chapter in the areas of Chapter Management & Development, Leadership, Member Services, Membership, and Public Affairs. We should be collectively proud of our chapter achievements.
