INDUSTRY NEWS GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD
Alan Rose, CEO and majority owner of Rose Paving Co., a leader in national parking lot management, accepted the 2015 Good Neighbor Award from Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction Magazine at the National Pavement Expo in Nashville.
Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction hosts and presents industry awards to individuals and companies who have in one way or another – through their professionalism; dedication to education; pursuit of excellence; development of equipment, tools or materials or other criteria – enhanced the industry. The “Good Neighbor” Award is presented annually to a paving or pavement maintenance company that demonstrates significant participation in the local community by providing pavement related services and / or financial support to charitable and non-profit organizations that benefit the community.
“I am pleased to accept this award. Reaching out to the community is part of our culture. Our staff and teammates all agree it makes us feel good giving back. Our annual Founder’s Day project involves selecting an organization in need of pavement repair and the executive team getting the work done. This year’s Founder’s Day project involved infrared repair, sealcoating and striping at Visitation Catholic School in Chicago” states Alan Rose.
In addition to our Founder’s Day project, Rose Paving was able to donate time, materials, labor and equipment, or monetarily to help 21 different organizations in our community. Quarterly we prepare and serve dinner at Ronald McDonald House, we ‘Walk for Hope’ for the Cancer Support Center and we sponsor/host a Comedy Night that benefits Rush Epilepsy Foundation, just to name a few of the things we do.
NEW BRANCH OFFICE
LCM is not new to the Wisconsin market; the state had been serviced out of the Kenosha office. Due to client demand, LCM’s CEO, Mike Kerton felt the need to open a new branch office to better service the area. The Mequon location will be headed by Senior Account Executive, Jesse Bozman. “I’m excited to be a part of this recent expansion driven by the growing Wisconsin market.” said Bozman. He will oversee three crews out of the new facility.
Additionally, the company responded to the rising demand by adding a second greenhouse. The first greenhouse was installed late last winter; the idea was to grow quality perennials for our clientele. The greenhouse allows LCM to monitor the crops closely and grow them at an LCM quality standard. The greenhouse Supervisor, Carrie Hancock says, “We get to pick our bare root and plugs; monitor their growth and keep them healthy for installation. Then we hand pick our plant material for our clients when we’re ready to install. We make sure we bring our clients the fullest and most vibrant plants in our greenhouse.” Hancock stated this new initiative works as an added service for their clients as they are able to keep track of their inventory and propose available plant material.
Last year, 3,000 perennials were grown, sold and installed. This year, LCM is expected to grow 8,500 perennials for the first rotation and by the second rotation in midsummer add another 4,000 bare root and plugs.
