O
nce upon a time there was an industrious manager who worked diligently on-site at a challenging high-rise property. Many very “interesting” people lived in this building. When
the holidays came around, some members of the Board of Directors decided to present the Manager with a special token of appreciation.
Two Board members appeared in the manager’s office bearing gifts; one gift in a small package and one gift in a long, tall package. The Board members instructed the Manager to open the small package first. They said it was to help the Manager “relax and de-stress.” The small package contained a candle and bubble bath. The Board members said the second gift was in case the first gift didn’t accomplish its purpose.
The second package contained a real, live, 4-foot long, batteries included, comes-with-a-safety, purchased at Farm & Fleet in Aurora, bzzzzzzzzzzzzz - CATTLE PROD! The gift came with no instructions (or restrictions!)
on usage (for use on residents or Board members?). The thoughtfulness of the gift made the Manager’s day, gave everyone a good laugh, and provided a great story to share with people who could appreciate it.
