Strengthening the Construction Industry: AGC of California’s Initiatives for Small

to high-profile networking events such as the Small Business Construction Expo (SBCX), AGC of California and its members are demonstrating their ongoing commitment to support and uplift small and underrepresented businesses (SUBs) in California’s con- struction industry. Tis elevated focus on educating and


supporting SUBs is driven by the recogni- tion that when small and underrepresented

businesses are thriving, the construction industry as a whole does better.


Small Business Construction Expo Te Northern California Small Business Construction Expo (SBCX), held virtually this year on May 23rd, as well as the in-per- son Southern California SBCX which was expected to draw hundreds to the Long Beach Convention Center on August 23 (after press time), represented two of the most impactful events for construction industry SUBs this year. Both events offered a unique opportunity for SUBs, contractors


and agencies from across California to build relationships and explore partner- ship opportunities during the multi-hour, highly interactive events. In Northern California, the virtual format this year ensured convenience and accessi- bility for the 227 individual SUB registrants, creating new pathways for companies to build and expand their networks. Several attendees and sponsors were


enthusiastic about their experience with the Northern California event. A few of the comments following the event included: • “Te interaction was very intentional
