26 highlights Blackrock’s Voting Choice program for retail investors. While shareholder voting rights have been a feature of modern public companies for decades, the growth of index investing has limited the voice of retail investors. Trough the Voting Choice program, retail investors can now decide if they want institutions to vote on their behalf or choose to vote individually. We support this initiative to promote transparency and shareholder rights. As investor relations professionals, we no longer manage just the needs of shareholders but all stakeholders. Tis is both a challenge and an opportunity for the investor relations community. Focusing on stakeholders broadens the responsibility and career opportunities for investor rela- tions professionals. Te article, “Reputation Management in a Risky World,” on page 18 focuses on managing corporate
image with stakeholders. It highlights the importance of an integrated communications approach to develop, maintain and grow the corporate brand, helping companies weather the inevitable reputational storms that affect almost all industries from time to time. Finally, I encourage you to attend the NIRI 2024 Annual Conference in San Francisco on June 9-11, 2024. Te conference features an all-star lineup of leading industry executives and a general session with SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce. Read more about it in the article, “NIRI2024 to Deliver Tought Leadership and Industry Insights,” on page 34. I look forward to seeing each of you there. See you in June. IR
