Patient-focused programming One of the key challenges facing IR is patient awareness. We touch patient lives every day, and yet many are unaware of our role in the healthcare system—which is why it is so important to educate not only patients but IRs as well on how to make the specialty more available and visible to patients.

This year at SIR 2025, we listened to your feedback and are providing new session formats designed to spur creativity. Attendees will learn new techniques and solve problems in relaxed settings. There are more networking opportunities than ever, with more than 10 hours of specifically designated networking events that will not conflict with educational programming.

Networking The heart of networking at SIR 2025 will be the IRHub. It will serve as a central space for attendees to connect, network and explore opportunities with SIR and partner societies within the Expo Hall. It will be located near the Simulation Theatre, Innovation Theatre and Technology Showcase Theatre. Attendees can also enjoy activities like a pickleball court, putt- putt and a shoe-shining station, as well as coffee during breaks.

The IRHub will also feature multiple networking events throughout the week, with topics pulled from member feedback:

Fireside Chats These 20-minute talks highlight compelling stories and lived IR experiences.

Spotlight Conversations These conversations, which are 45 minutes long, will highlight immersive storytelling, where IRs can come together to share global narratives that focus on the diverse perspectives of IR.

Compelling Conversations These 30-minute expert Q&A sessions focus on soft skills for IR professionals. The Compelling Conversations program is the perfect opportunity to get your questions answered by experts and hear diverse perspectives.

36 IRQ | FALL 2024

Two of SIR 2025’s plenaries will tackle this topic from two different angles. Julie Bulman, MD, RPVI, FSIR and Michael D. Dake, MD, FSIR, will lead a panel discussing how IRs can shape and lead the healthcare system, while Daniel Y. Sze, MD, PhD, FSIR, and Merve Ozen, MD, will speak to New York Times best- selling author Sebastian Junger on how IR saved his life. Junger’s story is both interesting and moving, and he speaks eloquently on that moment between life and death and how minimally invasive techniques were able to change the trajectory of his life.

Celebrating innovation There is no better time to embrace innovation and change than at SIR 2025, where we will celebrate 50 years of the Society of Interventional Radiology. This celebration is infused into every aspect of the meeting, from special events to plenary topics. We encourage everyone to join us at the opening plenary, which will be held in the Expo Hall, to kick off the anniversary with some special surprises.

SIR 2025 is a meeting that can’t be missed. It has something for everyone, from networking opportunities to an all-new, fluid and immersive programming. We’re celebrating 50 years of drive, determination and evidence-based patient care, and we hope to see everyone there!
