NALP has created new Landscape Business Management Certificate cours- es designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to to manage landscape projects, teams, and business operations effectively. “Our new signature Business Manage-
ment Certificate Courses provide your team with the essential skills needed to excel in key business areas and are ideal for mid-level professionals,” says Heather Parker, VP of education, events and pro- grams for NALP. “Eight individual courses are offered, and participants can earn specialized certificates for leaders, HR professionals, and operations managers, as well as individual course certificates. Companion publications for each topic are also available.”
OVERVIEW OF THE COURSES The courses cover a comprehensive range of topics including: Contract Law & Risk Management Essentials - covers aspects like effective contract management tech- niques, how to optimize landscape
contracts for organizational success, and how to handle bad debts.
Corporate Finance - highlights subjects like budgeting and cash flow projections, working capital manage- ment strategies and how to collabo- rate with financial partners.
Exterior Production & Operations - focuses on building credibility, having effective client communication, deliv- ering high-quality work and fostering long-term client relationships based on trust and excellence.
Human Resource Management - covers compliance with labor laws and safety programs, effective em- ployee management strategies and navigating performance reviews and mental health considerations.
Leveraging Technology – includes optimizing efficiency with fleet man- agement software, selecting software and hardware to fit company needs and exploring electric vehicles, drones, and advanced irrigation systems.
Management, Leadership & Cor- porate Culture – encompasses how
to build strong teams, understanding the roles of managers versus leaders, and techniques for creating a positive workplace culture.
Sales & Marketing – centers around enhancing brand recognition, improv- ing customer service standards and implementing pricing strategies.
Strategic Planning – deals with how to differentiate your organization in the market, align corporate goals with strategic vision and develop compre- hensive business plans and succession strategies.
Each individual self-paced course
takes an average of 2-3 hours to com- plete. They include interactive course- work and practical exercises that enable participants to apply business theory to real-world business scenarios. Resources are available for each course
and knowledge tests assess the learner’s understanding of the material. They are designed to reinforce key concepts and ensure practical comprehension. To complete all eight courses, the duration ranges between 16 to 24 hours, depending on the learner’s pace. Partici- pants have up to 12 months to complete
