Description: Alien Sunrise – Oil immersion grain mount of cementitious, portland cement-based mortar. Petrographic microscope with crossed nicols and ¼ wavelength insert used with a Bertrand lens set-up. The resulting conoscopic image reveals isotropic materials within the matrix, in this case, residual fly ash particles.
