WSCAI Outreach Committee Earth Day Project

Jackie Roethel

Once again our WSCAI Community came together with a purpose and made Earth Day a wonderful success. Battling the rain, thunder, and sun, the WSCAI Outreach Committee and 44 volunteers participated in this year’s project at Silver Glen Co-Op. While the youngest resident at Silver Glen is 72, that didn’t stop their team from helping where they could, as 53 neighbors joined us as well. Throughout the day we accomplished a new roof on their compost bin, excavated a new park area, complete with plants, compost and boulders, pressure washing, weed and ivy removal, and a new horse shoe pit.

None of this could have happened without the help of our 4 contractors – Brookstone Landscape & Design, LLC, Ruff Construction, SSI Construction & Whirl Wind Clean and Green, Inc. Their efforts, equipment, and teams made these large action items a reality for the Silver Glen residents.

Our contractors and volunteers were able to do so much this year due to the generosity of our sponsors.

A huge thank you to our sponsors: Plantscapes Horticulture Services, HUB International NW, McLeod Construction, PRIME, Ruff Construction, BEHR/KILZ Paint & Primer, and Precision Concrete for their generous $250 donations.

On behalf of the Outreach Committee, thank you for joining us this year at Silver Glen. This is a fun and special event that we have grown the last several years, and we are looking forward to next year’s special property announcement in the coming months.

If you would like more information on how to help, volunteer, sponsor, please contact the Outreach Committee or Michelle Leary.

Thank you! 16 Community Associations Journal | June 2017
