How does your community foster resident participation? We have committees and social events that are specifically designed to promote resident participation.

Our Beautification committee educates the community on gardening issues and community landscape standards. They coordinate community planting days, seminars, events and plant salvages. They also hold a monthly “Litter Walk,” which gathers volunteers to clean up neighborhood parks and trails, and “Nature Hikes,” where residents can gather with their neighbors to explore our local trail system.

community amenities include an extensive 16 mile trail system, connecting neighborhoods, Marketplace, the Business Park, and regional off-site trails. These trails meander throughout the protected forests and wetlands that cover 60% of Redmond Ridge. Whether a homeowner jogs, rides their bicycle, or prefers a quiet stroll among the trees, the Redmond Ridge trail system is only a few steps from their homes. Redmond Ridge includes a 10-acre King County Baseball field, nineteen neighborhood parks and children’s play structures with plenty of room for neighborhood and family gatherings. Redmond Ridge’s Community Center is located at Cedar Park, located on the western border of the community. This amenity provides a convenient gathering hall for events of all sizes and also assists in keeping monthly assessments low, while continuing to properly maintain the community.

What challenges do you face now? Communicating to residents from various cultures and languages can be difficult. Educating residents on the importance of compliance when they come from a culture or country that may not have similar restrictions, can cause frustration from both sides. We continue to work to educate our residents and consistently see improvements.

What is your community’s greatest success? Over the past few years we have made a lot of improvements and successfully transitioned to self-management. One of our greatest successes has been a very large reduction in our delinquencies. We have not had anyone in collections in over a year and our delinquency rate is at an all-time low. By taking the time to personally contact owners, either by phone or in person, we have opened up the communication and have had great success in ensuring on-time payment of the assessments.

What methods does your community use to communicate with owners? Monthly Newsletter: Redmond Ridge has a 20 page newsletter called The Ridge Review which is delivered every month. The newsletter is paid entirely by advertising and features important updates, education and tips for Redmond Ridge residents. We use this newsletter to educate our residents on rules, as well as provide them with information on community events, neighborhood updates and anything else that affects owners and renters.

Weekly Email Bulletins: The ROA Email Bulletin is an informative email that management sends out weekly. We use this tool to alert our residents about urgent matters that arise within our community. The email bulletin is also used to inform residents about events, closures, and other helpful information about the community.

Website - www.redmondridgeroa.com: At any time, residents can find anything they need to know about Redmond Ridge on our website; news and updates, association documents, calendars and event information, community information and much more.

Our Events Committee develops and administers ongoing community events to promote the neighborhood connection between the ROA and individual residents. The Events Committee works closely with ROA staff and other neighborhood entities in this effort.

Ad-Hoc Committees: From time-to-time ad-hoc committees are formed to provide the Board of Directors with input on various issues, such as the design of a new park and playground.

Does your community hold any social events? If so, what are they? Summer Festival: The summer festival features rides, games, live music, food and other family fun once a year in Commons Park. This festival is planned by the Events Committee and ROA staff.

Fall Festival: This event is held around Halloween each year and features games, crafts, and other fun Halloween-themed activities.

Winter Festival: Dickens Carolers, games, give always, and a visit from Santa! Held every December at the Redmond Ridge Community Center. We also gather food and goods for local food banks during this festival.

Community Wide Garage Sales: Held twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

Miscellaneous Social Activities: Our Events Committee also plans various fun social gatherings throughout the year. They change annually, but have featured, Bingo Nights, Movie Nights, Gardening Seminars, etc.

Volunteer Appreciation Night: Every year, ROA staff host a celebration of our wonderful volunteers. This event is completely staff run and all volunteers and their families are invited. We change the activity each year, but in the past we have thrown pumpkin carving evenings and last year, a murder mystery dinner!
