WSCA Long-Time Member Spotlight

Name: David Lemmon, DC Practice: Selah Chiropractic Clinic

What chiropractic school did you attend and what year did you graduate? Western States Chiropractic College and graduated in ‘81.

What made you want to be a chiropractor? I grew up with severe thoracic pain (knife in my back) and then got into a motor vehicle accident while attending college and went to Drs. Zini and Obert and that convinced me to be a chiropractor when they fixed my constant acute condition. My wife and I picked fruit during the summers and her arms would go completely numb and chiropractic resolved that.

How has being a member of the WSCA helped you? Being a member of the WSCA has been a constant source of professional education, participation, camaraderie, and has been a valuable information resource to me. It gives us strength in numbers, the opportunity to participate in the present and future of chiropractic and the ability of the population to have access to chiropractic. It is an incredible and well-put together organization that has done so very much for our profession.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in your career?

There are many incredible things that I have learned. All people are important and none of then come in to be judged. Always give 110% and if you need to put them back on the table again then just do it. Learning never stops. It’s about the patients getting better and not about my ego.

What single piece of advice would you give to a new DC? Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Learn from others and always give a treatment plan and give them your personal number if they are likely to have problems during the weekend. Ask for referrals.

What is an interesting fact about you? I am always busy doing things. I love going to work on Monday.
