theoretical orientation has impacted their personal preference on the modality of play therapy. Even though the reason to this low response rate was unknown, we would like to use this opportunity to invite all APT members to reflect on the importance of theoretical orientation in the  practice as emphasized by APT.


In addition to the descriptive data, we would like to highlight some         clinicians were not familiar with telehealth prior to the pandemic. The survey result indicated that during the pandemic, doctoral level clinicians        compared to Master’s level clinicians (17.9%; p = .017) although their self-        with different levels of credentials also revealed different self-perceived competencies during the pandemic. Particularly, participants with RPT and   and p <.001), and self-perceived competency among participants with  = .001) and without play therapy credentials (p = .002) in the second year  appears to align with APT’s encouragement for clinicians to pursue RPT and RPT-S credentials. Regarding clinical settings, participants in    practice (p = .03). It may be helpful to consider how these settings differ            clinicians in future workshops/trainings.


In summary, the pandemic has led to challenges and changes to mental health services for children. The needs assessment results provide some information that might be helpful for all APT members to consider in order to better support one another and improve our work with clients in this unpredictable and evolving time.
