LEADERSHIP From the Chair Despite many heart-wrenching situations that
Chair Sharolyn Wallace, PhD, LCSW, RPT-S
occurred locally and globally this year, the APT community has remained vigilant in our service to children. We continue to perform community outreach, expanding the play therapy brochure for pediatricians. Financially, APT is very strong, and continuing to grow. Reaching over 6,500 members in the last twelve months with 52% now credentialed as RPT/Ss or SB- RPTs, several organizational changes have occurred.
Diane Leon was appointed Vice President/COO and two new staff members Melissa Villegas and Amanda Croft joined APT to ensure the highest level of customer service to members. APT launched the new website in August, and PlayToday replaced the Member Flash. Play Therapy Week enjoyed tremendous member participation! I am
very proud of our engaged and committed APT members, 28 of whom graduated from the 2018 Leadership Academy. Our new Clinical Editor, Sarah Stauffer, has added new sections to Play Therapy™ Magazine. The Registration and Continuing Education Committee is reviewing and strengthening the credentialing program to ensure professional credibility. New graduate-level syllabi are being created for both introductory and advanced play therapy courses by the University Education Committee, and the 2018 Annual Conference will include a poster session with strong research presentations. Researchers continue to catapult APT and play therapy registrants to the forefront of clinical practice and professionalism. I am extremely proud to serve as APT Board Chair, and I want to thank our
retiring Board Directors: Rick Gaskill, Art Cleveland, and Jodi Crane. They have served APT admirably! I am happy to welcome Dee Ray and Robert Jason Grant to the Board as we move forward in growing this amazing family we know as APT.
