eadership development is a critical ongoing priority in every organization committed to the advancement of
the trade or profession of its members. By completing the APT Leadership Academy program, you will develop and contribute to the elevated leadership perspectives necessary to ensure the long-term growth and advancement of both play therapy and APT.
You will learn how APT is structured, operated, and responsibilities of governance (Board), management (CEO), and stakeholders (members) to better align expertise with assigned duties. This alignment allows the policy board to focus upward and outward, thereby generating more long-term value for members.
facilitated by CEO Kathy Lebby between January and June, and explores leadership attributes, APT’s policies and programs, and how APT conducts its daily business online as a virtual organization. For additional information or to enroll, visit the APT website!
APT Leadership Academy provided me with an amazing opportunity to develop and deepen my understanding of the inner workings of APT, its structure, and its mission. An invaluable experience, where I enjoyed learning alongside my peers under the guidance of current APT leadership. I also learned about myself as a leader, and how I can contribute to APT. As a result, I am even more excited about and appreciative of the diligence and commitment of APT to its members and ultimately the children and families touched by play therapy. - Amy Williams Long, PhD, LPC, RPT-S, (CO)
“I really enjoyed Leadership Academy and
learning new things about leadership. What I appreciated the most was the support and acceptance from my colleagues, and the expertise that our leaders offered to us. I learned so much from my class members, and enjoyed using my creativity as we worked on the projects together. The “culture” of the class is very welcoming and non-judgmental.”
-Jana Dobesova, MA, LPC-MHSP, RPT (TN)”
“Leadership Academy provides a unique opportunity to join with play therapists around the globe to learn about the structure and business of our association through fun, engaging activities!”
-James Jackson, PhD, LPC-S, RPT-S (AL)
