RANDY THURMAN, CPA/PFS, says good things come to those who keep improving. “In life and your career, you’re going to mess up. As hard as you


might try, you’re not going to be perfect,” Turman said. “Use your mistakes as a school, not an anchor.” Without fear of failure, Turman has developed an impressive


repertoire of skills that has helped him find great success in the profession. As they say, the proof is in the pudding, and for the Oklahoma CPA the pudding yields 18 prestigious awards and six published books. However, Turman is a true philonoist with a passion for knowledge, and he suggests achievements will continue when the focus is on constant and never-ending improvement. He credits his own success and impressive legacy to balance and gratitude. “My dad used to say, 'Every day is a good day and if you don’t think


so, try missing one,'” Turman said. “Tere’s more to life than work; know what’s important to you and have a balance that includes those things.” For Turman, balance is categorized into six different areas: personal,


professional, physical, family, financial and spiritual. He encourages others to find areas of balance that are personally significant. As a result of his methodical balancing act, Turman has made contributions to the OSCPA, community and profession that are widespread. One of his most notable contributions to the community and

profession has been his work serving on the Oklahoma College Savings Plan Board of Directors. Turman is on his 24th consecutive year serving on the Board through governor appointment and was instrumental in the structure of the plan and design of investment choices. He has served many OSCPA committees and has endowed a business scholarship to the OSCPA’s Educational Foundation. Te scholarship is awarded to an Oklahoma City Community College student majoring in business or finance each year. All aspiring and new CPAs can benefit throughout their career from
