jeremy vanvalin, cpa “Begin with the end in mind.” ~Stephen Covey

Although Jeremy VanValin, CPA, a manager of assurance services with Ernst & Young LLP in Tulsa, Oklahoma, takes great pride in passing the CPA exam and completing his master’s degree while working, his greatest achievement has been educating others. “Jeremy is a sought after counselor amongst

our new staff and does an incredible job mentoring and developing those under him,” said Bryan Storms, CPA, a partner with Ernst & Young LLP in Tulsa. “He consistently receives praise for his development of staff and seniors. He leads our engagement teams with excellence and does a great job building a high performance team by setting a positive and energetic work environment.” VanValin said it’s all in seeking out chances

to help others. “Public accounting has provided me with

multiple opportunities to coach others through the apprenticeship model, but I have sought more opportunities by volunteering to teach students from kindergarten through the college level,” VanValin said. An OSCPA member for four years, VanValin

has volunteered with Junior Achievement since 2009, teaching kindergarteners through 12th graders business and financial planning

principles. He said, “My background in accounting gave me credibility with the students and insight about the material we cover.” VanValin, who received his bachelor’s and

master’s degrees from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, also gives back to his alma matter by volunteering as a speaker for auditing classes, as well serving as a campus lead. “Jeremy is instrumental in our recruiting

efforts,” Storms said. “As the campus lead for Oral Roberts University, he speaks at various accounting functions, leads our campus interviews and assists in our office visits for recruits.” Storms added, “When I think of a

Trailblazer in the field of accounting – someone who is a leader among their peers, has outstanding technical abilities and provides exceptional client service – I think of Jeremy VanValin.”
