jacob pasby, CPA “T alent is God-given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.” ~John Wooden

Jacob Pasby, CPA, a controller with Arnold Oil Properties LLC in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has converted his office into a paperless environment. “It might not sound like much, but with a

majority of the office being older and ‘set in their ways,’ it has been a great achievement,” Pasby said. “While we still aren’t 100 percent paperless, the accounting department at Arnold Oil Properties is now much more efficient.” “The paperless environment has enabled us

to take on more work with the same amount of people,” Pasby said. “A report that would take two weeks because of hand keying everything into a spreadsheet now takes only three to four hours.” Pasby said, “Being paperless was a hard

transition, but now that it is complete, my job and my coworkers’ jobs are much easier and efficient.” John Mitchell, chief financial officer with

Arnold Oil Properties LLC, said, “Not only has the company saved money on the cost of tax preparation, but we have also reaped the benefits of Jacob’s tax planning and advice when it comes to financial matters.” An OSCPA member for four years,

Pasby has served on the Young Accounting Professionals Committee since 2011 and is currently the committee chair. Additionally,

Pasby has been volunteered with the United Way of Central Oklahoma since 2011. Pasby said his most significant community

achievement is the work he does with the United Way. “Seeing the impact of the agencies on

the community and the outreach of the United Way has given me a different view of Oklahoma City,” Pasby said. “I have grown as a leader within a sub-committee and am now a co-chair who leads meetings and meets with different agency executive directors to help them with their funding needs.” “In my experience with Jacob, he not only

actively participates in community projects, but he also actively engages and encourages others to be involved as well,” said fellow OSCPA member Jeffrey Hays, CPA, a controller and tax director with Bob Mills Furniture Company, Inc. in Oklahoma City and former colleague of Pasby. “As a leader, this is one of Jacob’s biggest strengths.” “All in all, [my work with the United

Way] has allowed me to meet great people, serve the community and become proactive in meeting the community’s needs,” Pasby said. “This process guarantees that each dollar is going to the best possible place in the community.”
