the president’s message
H
ello! Ni hao! Hola! Bonjour! Hallo! Kon’nichiwa! So many ways to greet people in different languages! And when you do it with a smile, it just brightens not only your day but also somebody else’s!
I hope everyone is having a great year so far. Believe it or not, we have ended the 1st Quarter of the year. How’s busi- ness? Booming I bet and that means everyone is in “busy” mode. Remember not to be too busy to notice what is going on around you.
Ever hear of that disease called FOMO? We all have it believe or not and it’s not something you can get rid of…it’s the Fear Of Missing Out! And I don’t want you to cure the disease especially when it comes to CAI Orange County…we have a lot going on and you will want to be a part of it!
First, thank you to everyone who attended our joint January 2018 luncheon with CAI – Greater Inland Empire Chap- ter at the Disneyland Hotel. What a great speaker we had with Lt. Col. Patricia Murray learning how to “Run Your Own Race…Let the World Chase You”. Tere were some great take-a-ways in finding our own strength and determina- tion to succeed on our own terms.
So, we kicked off the year focusing on our purpose, and once again we celebrated in February the many volunteers who devote their time and energy to our organization. It was a fantastic event and I know that the change in layout and presentation created quite the buzz! I was recently at the Awards Committee meeting and you definitely won’t want to miss the awards night in 2019!
March came rolling in with the Day at the Food Bank which was another great community outreach event and we ended the month with our annual Bowling Tournament. Oh! And we can’t forget the Community Leadership Train- ing Program (CLTP) that was held with the most number of attendees in forever – 47!
If I haven’t told you once…I’m going to say it again – get involved in our Chapter! We are growing in membership and in opportunities. Get outside your comfort zone and share your talents and creativity – we are always looking for new ideas from new people.
Until we meet again, what’s your 2nd Quarter look like? Will I see you at the Day at the Capitol in Sacramento? Or at CAI National Conference in Washington DC? Or maybe at the PCAM luncheon in a few months? Wherever it may be, I hope to see you there and don’t be a stranger if we have never met…I would love to say “hello”!
