The December 16th luncheon program featured an update on the homelessness issue within the county. The program was presented by Anaheim Assistant City Attorney Gregg Audet, Esq., Anaheim Community Preservation & Licensing Manager/Homeless Liaison Sandra Lozeau, and attorney Steve Roseman, Esq., Roseman Law, APC. The speakers informed members in attendance about how code enforcement may be utilized to protect communities. The following are some great takeaways from the program.


Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) can include installing security systems around your community, password protecting your internet, and installing lighting, cameras, and fencing. Signs stating “No Trespassing”, or “No Soliciting”, are also beneficial. If needed, you may also be able to file a “No Trespassing” letter with your local police department to assist them with removing trespassers from your association property. Another idea is to modify landscaping around your community both to inhibit breaching perimeter walls and prevent campsites.


Each city and county has regulations in place that address issues such as nuisance, zoning violations, illegal camping, improper storage of property, and trespassing. Always check with your local city and county to find out what laws are in place to prevent these situations.
