Celebrates Its Award-Winners

CAI-IL appreciates and celebrates all of its volunteers. This year, several have stood out as outstanding contributors and future leaders on their committees and they were recognized at the Excellence Awards & Winter Gala, November 18. Congratulations to all of our award winners on your outstanding successes!

Olympus Olympus Awards are presented to individuals who have made a profound influence in the development of the Illinois Chapter of CAI. Award winners are actively involved in a leadership role and inspire and encourage others in their growth and development in the chapter.

Anthony Dister—Community Advantage,

A Wintrust Company Tony has been actively involved in the chapter for many years, having chaired the Community Development Committee for five years and more recently co-chairing the Finance Committee for the past two years. He is an active member of the Board

of Directors and stepped up when needed to become the Treasurer and Co-Chair for the Finance Committee. He contributes his time and expertise on the Executive Board and is helping the chapter grow while remaining financially stable. He really cares about the chapter and has done an excellent job taking the initiative to learn about the chapter finances. He is a true team player.

Carrie Surratt, CMCA, AMS—Care Property Management Services Carrie has been dedicated to CAI and the Conference & Expo Committee for six years. She is very passionate about the event and committee and continues to improve the show year after year. From the beginning, Carrie stepped in when help was needed, including when the committee

needed a Co-Chair. She was instrumental in initiating the move to Donald E Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont in 2014 where the show has grown as a result of her efforts. Outside of her commitment to CAI, Carrie volunteers her time with several other organizations as well, which only further contributes to her as a person.

Rising Star Rising Star Awards recognize individuals who serve on a CAI Committee and have consistently made positive contributions. These volunteers have less than 5 years’ experience on the committee and exhibit leadership potential.

Randy Grimes, FirstService Residential Illinois Randy is one of the new committee members who has shined brightest in the event planning efforts for this year’s

summer social. His enthusiasm radiates to the entire committee and he exhibits leadership skills that beckon participation, encouraging everyone to be involved even to levels beyond their own expectations. He willingly takes on tasks to accomplish the goals of event planning and provides commentary which leads to the best possible outcomes. He regularly attends committee meetings and if not in person, makes contact by conference call. His volunteer service is dedicated and thorough to follow up with committee tasks which allow for the progress started in meetings to be carried out to success. Randy remains a fantastic supporter of the mission of CAI.

Lea Marcou, Associa Chicagoland

Lea joined the Homeowner Forum Committee over a year ago and has actively participated since. She helps plan forums and has been stepping up into a leadership role, learning what it takes to one day become a Co-Chair of this committee. She has volunteered to coordinate and participate on panels, including the new virtual forum. She has what it takes to help CAI continue to grow in the future.

Charles Perry, Lieberman Management Services, Inc. Charles has been actively involved on the Illinois Legislative Action Committee (ILAC) for several years and enthusiastically took on the Co-Chair role. He helps keep the committee organized and keeps the meetings moving. He has traveled to Springfield to testify and for the annual lobbying day. He contributes his time and expertise on the Board of Directors and acts as a useful liaison between the Board and ILAC.

Jack Thew, Windridge of Naperville

Jack has been on the Board of Directors for two years and jumped in with both feet by becoming the Secretary on the Executive Board. He earned the Dedicated Community Association Leader (DCAL) recognition by taking all seven homeowner education classes. He volunteers on the Marketing Committee and generates thoughtful discussions on the committee and at Board meetings. Jack is someone the chapter can rely on to give a voice to homeowner members and to keep the chapter striving for excellence.

George Toubekis, Community Advantage, A Wintrust Company

George has served on the Golf Committee for the last few years. In 2016, George stepped in as Co-Chair for the Committee. He has been instrumental in helping lead meetings with Cog Hill and assists in facilitating the committee meetings. George puts in the extra time when it is needed and makes the event a great success. He leads with great ideas and great enthusiasm and is all around a great Co-Chair.
