Contributions to CAI are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. Please note that CAI Illinois Chapter estimates that 57% of membership dues received by the Chapter are spent on lobbying activities, and are not deductible as charitable contributions or ordinary and necessary business expenses.
