Chicago is not the only area to benefit from Bill’s tutelage. Bill was the keynote speaker at the National Canadian Condominium Conference in Toronto.

Recognized as a

leader in the community association management industry, he spoke on the state of the industry in the United States and other issues that affect managers and associations alike. He has worked on a national level for CAI as the Area Advisor to other CAI Chapters including Minnesota, Indiana, St. Louis and Kansas City. In addition, he was a member of CAI’s national Blue Ribbon Task Force that was instrumental in the formation of the educational and testing requirements that are part of today’s national Certified Manager of Community Association program (“CMCA”). Bill supports the purpose of ensuring community association managers practice with professionalism, integrity and knowledge.

In support of uniformity of law among the several states on subjects as to which uniformity is desirable and practicable, Bill accompanied the head of the Uniform Law Commissioners Office of Chicago to Springfield to lobby legislators for the Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act. This act contains provisions for the formation, management, and termination of any common interest community, including condominiums, planned communities, and real estate cooperatives.

Bill has served the industry for many terms as a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Associations Institute Illinois Chapter with multiple years in the position of Secretary, then many years as a Director, plus two terms as President. The driving force behind the formation of the Chapter Managers Committee, Bill continues to serve the Chapter today as an active member of the CAI Illinois Chapter Legislative Action Committee (“ILAC”), a committee that works with Illinois legislators monitoring and recommending legislation that affects community associations in the state.

Bill’s management expertise comes from his many years of “hands on” experience with all facets of building and association administration and operations.

Today, he is partner and stockholder at Chicagoland Community Management, Inc., a company he helped develop and form with the purchase and acquisition of the management division of J.S. James and Company. The deal was contingent upon receiving 100% assignment of existing contracts and clients which he easily achieved, ensuring a smooth transition for all customers and clients. It was also at that time that Bill began to emerge as an industry leader, applying equal thought and criticisms to management programs and applications. He also completed many of the educational courses given by the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Community Associations Institute.
