Face Off

How to Handle Contentious Board Members and/or Homeowners

When beginning our career in community management no one warned us exactly what we were getting into. As Community Managers we wear many hats in any given day; from diagnosing plumbing matters, to days having a therapy session with a homeowner, and everything in-between. We do whatever it takes to ensure our communities are running like well-oiled machines!

What we do is no simple task and is often a thankless job. We do it because we love helping others. Each day impacts the lives of many and that is quite rewarding. Community management is quite intricate and does not come without its challenges. Many can be resolved relatively quickly, but it seems the ones that take the longest are those that involve dispute resolution, emotion and disruptive board members and/or homeowners.
