LAC Working on Multiple Fronts for AGC Members and the Industry

W


ith over 160 members in its ranks, the Legal Advisory Committee (LAC) remains


a vibrant resource for AGC members and the construction industry as a whole. Each year LAC is involved in


an array of activities that help AGC members effectively operate their businesses and stay informed on important issues affecting contractors. LAC members are consistently updating members on important legal developments, preparing template documents specifically for members to use, and advocating important positions that affect the construction industry.


Tis coming year is no less


ambitious. If you are reading this and


are not familiar with the LAC, here is a small glimpse of LAC activities upcoming and over the course of the last year.


Educating Member Firms


On the first Tuesday of


each month, LAC members participate in a phone conference to discuss key industry issues. Tere are often between 35-50 attendees. In January 2018, LAC had a record attendance on its monthly call. Some of the topics covered in


these calls include: the appellate court decisions affecting contractors on public and private contracting issues;


claims and disputes issues; labor, employment and other issues impacting the construction industry; the current work of various committees within the LAC; and new laws and regulations affecting contractors. Tere is typically an educational presentation from one of the


LAC members as well. In addition to the monthly


phone meetings, LAC members may also attend a two-day retreat each year that offers several hours of in-depth continuing legal education presentations. Tis past year some of the topics
