The Symposium includes numerous educational sessions covering the broad range of trail issues, internationally prominent speakers, a state-of-the-art, trail-related exhibit hall, informative and interactive mobile workshops, and much more.


Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available to attendees for many of the educational sessions. CEUs are provided by the Texas Recreation and Park Society, an authorized indepen- dent CEU provider through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.

Featured Workshops on Sunday, May 17


The Featured Workshops provide the occasion for you to be an active part of in-depth discussions and activities on different trail topics. Sessions include:  Making; led by Tasha Harmon


- sion of “Solutions for Success” for equestrian-use trails


 Cornerstones of Effective Trail Management; coordinated by the U.S. Forest Service


Concurrent Sessions cover dozens of vital trail topics


Concurrent Sessions are 1.25-hour workshops with one presenter or a panel. These workshops cover dozens of topics on every aspect of trail plan- ning, funding, management, and pro- motion. All types of trails are included in these sessions, from backcountry routes to urban greenways, and trails on snow and water, as well as land.


Core Tracks sessions explore issues in depth


Core Tracks are designed to allow pre- senters to explore subjects in greater depth than is possible in a shorter Concurrent Session. Each Core Track module runs 3 to 6 hours to allow ample time for in-depth presentations, discussions, examples, and practice.


Poster presentations feature more stories from the trails


Posters will be displayed in a common area in the Exhibit Hall throughout the Symposium. Individuals displaying posters will also have an opportunity to share their “story” and to meet with interested attendees at designated times during the Symposium


Trail Talks (a.k.a. Coffee and Pastries with an Expert)


Presenters with a special interest in a trail-related topic will lead “Trail Talk” sessions and facilitate an informal dis- cussion and exchange of ideas.  during these informal early morning networking sessions.
