Nicole Masero Event Manager for the 2022 Convention
Nicole Masero was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Security and Conflict Resolution from San Diego State University. Nicole is the founder and owner of Masero Events, which handled all event coordination for National Conference for Catechetical Leadership convocations from 2017 to 2019. Prior to starting her own event planning company, Nicole worked for the Air National Guard as an event coordinator. In addition to event planning, Nicole provides finance and operations management for health care businesses. Nicole is a minister of liturgical movement and has presented at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress and at regional congresses for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Nicole’s favorite part of working with NPM so far has been meeting and working with all the talented, faithful, and strong people who are working to create a successful 2022 Convention. Her greatest challenges involve planning around the pandemic and strategizing for numerous potential circumstances in June. Nicole been blessed with three beautiful children, who are amazing humans and who keep her on her
toes. When asked if there’s anything special she wants members to know about her, Nicole said, “Tis isn’t my first NPM! As a minister of liturgical movement, I have participated in NPM conventions going back to 2011 in Louisville. I am excited to participate in this new role and look forward to meeting you all soon!”
Mike Novak Section Editor for Pastoral Music magazine
Born in New Jersey and currently living near Chicago, Mike has been a performing artist and church musician for almost as long as he can remember. He is a cantor with more than 40 years of experience and has directed schoolchildren’s choirs and parish choirs, most recently the Men’s Choir at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, WI. Mike is the former director of the Office for Prayer and Worship in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and has worked as an editor with World Library Publications and J. S. Paluch Company for more than 20 years.
When asked about his past involvement with NPM, Mike says that he “grew up as a pastoral musician with NPM” and notes that the articles in Pastoral Music magazine have been instrumental in his transformation from musician to liturgical musician. As a Section Editor, Mike is looking forward to “shining a spotlight on the work of the very best pastoral practitioners in liturgical music today.”
