NPM Oklahoma City
On November 15, 2021, NPM member David Anderson played an Organ Dedication Concert at St. James Parish in Oklahoma City. Te highlight of the evening was a special piece called "Boanergés," composed for the occasion by Oklahoma native Breck McGough, a doctoral student studying composition at Baylor University.
McGough's composition tells the story of the conversion of James who, along with his brother John, was nicknamed by Jesus "Boanerges," or "sons of thunder." Te wildness of the first movement represents James’s thunderous personality; the second movement gently evokes the voice of Jesus calling to James the third movement portrays James’s joy and hope as a follower of Jesus through its inversion of the melody from the first movement.
