Church Planters Retreat

Many of our church planters and their families called our February retreat in Lake Placid, FL one of the highlights of their year.   Tom Wood, peer counseling through church planter roundtables, fellowship, recreation, and prayer. Below are some takeaways our planters shared from the week.

Rev. Tom Hawkes

Christ Presbyterian Church Fernandina Beach, FL • Outreach idea from Dr. Tom Wood: “Men are lonely. Simply invite men to come to a - ple and great idea. We are doing this now. • Challenge from Dr. Tom Wood: “Figure out a process in your church to assimilate new people, disciple them, and deploy them  of how your church will do this.” Very im- portant, still working on this. • Comment from planter Mark Forbes in a round table discussion: “Hold a weekly staff  started that. In most plants our wives are our  • Really enjoyed daily worship led by Dr. Jim Klukow. It was very refreshing to worship together as pastors/planters with wives and family. • The conference center on Lake Placid was peaceful, beautiful, and refreshing. • The church planting dinner with First Lake Placid was another highlight. Most of our ARP planters gathered with folks from -  reports from several plants. Each planter was then prayed for by the folks at his table. A huge win for the Kingdom and church planting in the ARP! • So many encouraging conversations around meals each day. With really good food, too!

Rev. James Ritchey River City ARP Little Rock, AR The Outreach North America Retreat is one of the most encouraging times of the year for my family. It is so nice to be able to go and spend time with other church planters and families to learn from and pray for one another. The content of the lessons is thought provoking, and the round table discussions are helpful and challenging in the right way. Perhaps my favorite part of this year’s retreat was getting to spend time with the ARP congregation in Lake Placid, Florida. Their warmth, prayerfulness and  encouragement.

Rev. Josh Kitchen Hope Reformed Church Millbury, MA This year’s retreat was so practical and encouraging. We’ve been focusing on evan- gelism and discipleship at our church, so the topic was very helpful. One takeaway for me was that I need to develop a plan for myself and the people in the church to pray regularly for opportunities for evangelism. Learn more about how to encourage and
