Today the teacher told Sherwood’s class a story. “Once upon a time, there were three dragons who didn’t

know what an elephant was. Their teacher decided to take the class to the zoo but told the three dragons that they had to wear blindfolds. When they arrived the zookeeper brought out an el- ephant. She told those three that they were going to touch the elephant and then tell the class what they thought an elephant was like.”  that an elephant was like a long rope. Everybody said, “Wrong!” The second student touched the elephant’s leg and said, “The elephant is like a big tree.” There was more laughing. The third student told the class he thought an elephant was

like a big snake. There was more laughter. Wrong again. When they took off the blindfolds they were shocked to see

you what they think it means.” After Sherwood told them the story of the elephant, Mom and Dad said the three students thought they knew the truth about an elephant, but

they were wrong. Dad said, “You have to be careful about what you think is true. It could be wrong.” Mom said, “You must always look for the whole truth.” His parents said, “TV and the internet have people on them that are trying to get you to believe things that aren’t true. They aren’t in the busi-

ness of telling the truth. They are trying to sell something or some idea that isn’t true.” Sherwood asked, “How can you know that what you hear is true?” They said, “Think about the Bible. It will help you decide if something is true or not. Look up what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16.”

A Season of M acles A Season of Miracles By Mary DrBy Mary Drew Bult with Illustrations by Anna Campbell Bultew Bult with Illustrations by Anna Campbell Bult

Happy spring! What a beautiful season springtime is, and what a special celebration we have to look forward to on Easter Sunday! On Easter we celebrate the greatest miracle in all of history: the miracle of life. We look back to Jesus’ resurrection  will one day experience. Thus, we have miracles to look back on and miracles to look forward to. What a blessing! Sometimes, however, we can ponder these past and future miracles and wonder to ourselves, “What about the present?” Do miracles still happen today?

The answer to that question is yes! Of course, they do! God surrounds us with new, smaller miracles every single day. All we need is the eyes to see them. Look around you. Fresh green grass sprouts from the cold grey earth at the beginning of spring.  night. We awake each morning alive and well to live a new day. What a gift!

Indeed, God provides new miracles for us every day because He loves us. Springtime should remind us of this fact. May we have the eyes to see each little miracle, and may we be ever grateful for the gift of life!
